The Mental Health Levy began in 1980. Now, our job is more important than ever. The Levy works hard, through more than 30 Jackson County agencies who provide a
lifeline of care
for children, adults, and families. We stand for quality and
accountability
in the ways we oversee public funds.
Jackson County is diverse, and public mental healthcare must be equitable and accessible. New strategies are needed for working effectively in cross-cultural situations. We are reviewing plans and services of Levy contractors, and we’re planning new ways to help. To learn more, visit our
cultural competence
page.

Mental Health Courts are a Jackson County success story! These are problem-solving courts with proven results. Under the leadership of judges and court staff, new mental health courts are being created in Jackson County. We are working to make mental health courts available for everyone who needs them.

For the first time in our history Levy revenue is declining. While more people rely on public mental healthcare, and their situations are becoming more serious, we have been forced to reduce funding from last year's level. You can read more on our
Levy News
page.
